I wonder if it would be possible to have a configuration parameter
("detect_floppy") that can be manually set by a user?
This parameter would be false by default, bypassing accessing the controller
during boot.
Users who want floppy support could set it to true, and the controller access
routine would be executed during boot.
(Perhaps this parameter may be configurable through gconf-editor?)
