Why is this such low priority? The bug was reported and described over a year ago and it is just now being marked as confirmed? I tried some of the methods of changing the alps.c file found elsewhere, but that just made options visible in the settings but they didn't work. If I knew more I'd work on it, but I'm not a kernel programmer.
