I think flashplugin-downloader has problems resolving hosts for some reason.
On the system I have in front of me (upgraded step by step from lucid- mav-nat-oneiric), all DNS resolution works, but flashplugin-downloader consistently does this: ------------------------ Unpacking flashplugin-downloader (from .../flashplugin-downloader_10.3.183.10ubuntu5_i386.deb) ... Setting up flashplugin-downloader (10.3.183.10ubuntu5) ... [ever longer growing URL as it feeds opendns to itself... gets to 20 redirections and aborts] ----------------------- I'm not sure what it's trying to resolve, but it's most certainly not archive.canonical.com. I can resolve it fine from nslookup, and even open the .gz file by putting the URL in this web browser. I even put archive.canonical.com in the /etc/hosts file and I get this failure. This machine is not behind a proxy. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/851736 Title: flash is missing after upgrade to 11.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flashplugin-nonfree/+bug/851736/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
