*After amending alsa-base.conf, make sure you write the added line into the 
file ("ctrl-O" I think? ...it's listed at the bottom)


After running "sudo alsa force-reload" - restart and everything should
be fine. I'd rather an update fix, just in case the next update causes
the same problem, but this seems to work for now.
