Public bug reported:
Trying to save configuration (Preferences -> export) has the following
implications:
* compiz freezes, session is not usable any more
* when logging in again (standard Ubuntu 3D) unity is not working any
more (progam unity-panel-service is not started)
* login is possible (at least with Ubuntu 2D)
* rm compiz configurations helps:
rm -rf .compiz-1/ .cache/compizconfig-1/ .gconf/apps/compiz* .config/compiz-1/
did not do any finer debugger here, somebody initiated might know better than me
