Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xsane
The copy setup window in xsane is impenetrable to anyone without a head
full of unix commands and obscure numbers.
For instance I have no idea how to choose between printers if I have
more than one.
I would also need to know what exactly US letter size is in cm, which
right now, like most people, I don't.
I find the instructions at xsane.org barely more informative than the
setup window itself. It says that if I'm not using the old BSD printing
system then I should use lpr, unless I am using Gnome. But I thought I
was using CUPS, and that Gnome has it's own dialogues for interacting
with printers. What am I to make of this?
Actually, I've just tried copying with the default lpr command and I get
a "broken pipe" error.
In other words, the xsane setup procedure needs to be completely
reworked so that it plays nicely with gnome and so that ordinary people
can at least half understand it.
