Hi Sebaxtian,

Sounds like a serious issue -- unfortunately we're not able to reproduce
it. Could you help us understand the problem in more detail?

A few follow up questions:

1. Does this only happen when you have metadata writing on (second to last
checkbox in the Library tag of the Shotwell preferences) or does it happen even
if metadata writing is disabled?
2. Does this happen on every image, or just certain images? If it only occurs
on certain images, would it be possible for you to send us an image that
exhibits this behavior?
3. What program are you opening the images in?

Another test that might give us some insight on the problem is if you could run
this in a debugger and pause Shotwell (with Ctrl-C) and then taking a stack
trace. If you need help with this let me know; partial instructions are on the
Shotwell FAQ here:

Thanks for your bug report!
