If anyone wants to seriously work on this, please come to #debian-cli on
irc.oftc.net and work with the CLI libraries team there. As our snapshot
is from 2009, I don't know how possible it would be to extract patches
from git which fix the 2.10 compatibility issues, but people are more
than welcome to try and I'll happily sponsor any working patches.

Having said that, I guess it would be easier to just package a new
snapshot, but the main problem there is that the upstream git repository
is not DFSG-free; for Debian and Ubuntu we need to remove all
precompiled .dll/.exe/.whateverelse files and make sure that everything
is built from source when the package is built. That's the main reason
why it's not been fixed yet: nobody has stepped up to do this cleaning
work. There's a get-orig-source target in the debian/rules file which
would be a good starting point but it needs a little bit of freshening
up.

The new snapshot route would likely not be appropriate for O, but we
could consider putting it into backports.
