Public bug reported:

Continued from 11.04. My wireless fails to initialise. This is a
workaround from the forums so i do not take any credit for the discovery
of making this work. However i open a terminal window and type sudo
modprobe --ignore-install b43. Wireless comes online. From what i have
discovered that does fix a compatibility issue with my access point but
enables the wireless hardware. Initially i had a message that my
wireless was disabled, I installed from synaptic b43 drivers. Using
other included utilities I did not have the ability to install
propitiatory drivers. So it was all manual, which is why i used
synaptic. Once again i used several different forums to get this to
work. As my 11.10 is an upgrade I cannot say if the problem is resolved
or not, however i still have to do the sudo modprobe --ignore-install
b43 to make my wireless work.
