This looks like either a hardware problem or a kernel bug, can you try 
replacing the USB cable and/or use a different USB port?

the printer before booting:
$ dmesg > worksdmesg.txt
$ lspci -vv > workslspcivv.txt
$ lspci -vvn > workslspcivvn.txt
Then turn your printer off, reboot and turn your printer back on, attach the 
txt files produced by the following commands:
$ dmesg > failsdmesg.txt
$ lspci -vv > failslspcivv.txt
$ lspci -vvn > failslspcivvn.txt
