after a day testing, I've finally been able to reproduce but still
didn't find a pattern to do it reliably. It seems to happen after a
system upgrade.
lightdm logs are attached.
I noticed that each time it happens there is the following message in syslog
Oct 4 23:55:32 white kernel: [ 175.787767] init: lightdm main process (909)
killed by ABRT signal
