I have been unable to reproduce this issue using the Xubuntu Oneiric Ocelot ISO images dated 2011-10-09. Perhaps you would be able to provide more details, such as:
Which image exactly? What partition method? Did you check "download updates" or "Install 3rd party software"? Language? Keyboard? Thanks for the information.
