Has anyone yet found the cause?

I'm having a hard time figuring out how this problem is only of Medium
importance. Maybe it hasn't been reported enough, and if there is
another bug report on this issue, I cannot find it.

I am using the latest daily build live-cd, and every time I have to put
in my user password, be it to install a piece of software in Muon
Package Manager, or open a folder as root, there is a very good chance I
will not be able to shut down. My guess is that this is the only common
factor preceding a hang on shutdown. Just as Dave Gilbert wrote: "I
select shutdown, the screen greys out a bit - but all the apps are still
running and it doesn't get any further; I can still type in a konsole
and do a sudo shutdown -h now." In my opinion, this is a huge problem
for ordinary users.

I was able to reproduce this on a laptop, a Toshiba Satellite
L305-S5937, with and without Plymouth enabled, so the problem still
occurs even when there is no shutdown splash screen or animated progress
bar.

I hope this is addressed before release.
