Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10
basex 6.7-1

When I installed the basex package, I expected basexgui to be added to
the GNOME menu system, and that in the Unity Dash, typing "basexgui"
would bring up the graphical user interface to basex, but this was not
the case; it had to be launched from the command line. Adding basexgui
to the GNOME menu system would, of course, make it easier to use.

I believe this is a "wishlist" item.

** Affects: basex (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
