There is presently no fix for existing Ubuntu releases. You can however avoid 
the bug if you revert back to the kernel version that your Ubuntu release came 
with:
  Ubuntu 10.04 --> kernel 2.6.32
  Ubuntu 11.04 --> kernel 2.6.38

This bug is fixed in the new Ubuntu release 11.10, which should be
available in the next 24 hours.
