This error from .xsession-errors is probably relevant. It happens when I
restore a window that was previously fullscreen:
Window manager wa: [WARNING] Wnck: Received a timestamp of 0; window activation
may not function properly.
tamp
w manager warning: Buggy client sent a _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW message with a
timestamp of 0 for 0x2c000e9 (Inbox - Se)
Window manager warning: meta_window_activate called by a pager with a 0
timestamp; the pager needs to be fixed.
Window manager warning: Received a NET_CU: [WARNING] Wnck: Received a timestamp
of 0; window activation may not function properly.
Window manager warning: Buggy client sent a _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW message with a
timestamp of 0 for 0x40000e9 (Bug #85928)
Window manager warning: meta_window_activate called by a pager with a 0
timestamp; the pager needs to be fixed.
("Bug #85928" in the output is the partial title of the window.)
Another example (window was not fullscreen when minimized):
Window manager wa: ing: Received a NET_CURRENT_DESKTOP message from a broken
(outdated) client who sent a 0 timestamp
Window manager warning: Buggy client sent a _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW message with a
timestamp of 0 for 0x40000e9 (Bug #85928)
Window manager warning: meta_window_activate called by a pager with a 0
timestamp; the pager needs to be fixed.
Note that the error messages themselves are corrupted (eg "Window manager wa:
ing:") so maybe there is some buffer overflow going on.
