Public bug reported:

System: Lenovo Thinkpad Edge with AMD processor. Ubuntu 11.10 (64-bit)
If jockey-gtk is used to install the proprietary Broadcom STA driver the
BCM43224 Wifi card does not work.

Typing
sudo lshw -C network
shows that the bcma driver is used (rather than the wl driver) - this is why
the card does not work.

There is an easy fix by editing a conf file:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
and add "blacklist bcma"

Then reboot.
