** Description changed: Not a bug specifically, but... - It would be really nice if, when you hit Super and start typing the name of an application you wish to open, Unity behaved more like GNOME-Do. What I mean is that in Unity's current form, you have to type the proper name of the application. Whereas in GNOME-Do, you can just hit a few characters from it and it will find it for you. For example, "Synaptic Package Manager". In Unity you have to start typing S Y N, but in GNOME-Do you could type S M or S P or S P M, etc and it knows what you mean. The letters don't have to be adjacent to each other in the name of the application for GNOME-Do, but they must be in Unity. This would be a nice little feature to have, and would make Unity that little bit more unifying. - --- - Architecture: amd64 - CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, bicubic, compiztoolbox, decor, regex, imgpng, move, snap, mousepoll, gnomecompat, place, resize, loginout, wall, vpswitch, animation, session, water, zoom, grid, expo, commands, unitymtgrabhandles, staticswitcher, annotate, animationaddon, workarounds, fade, scale, notification, unityshell] - DistroCodename: natty - DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 - DistroVariant: ubuntu - InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Beta amd64 (20110413) - InstallationMedia_: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Beta amd64 (20110413) - InstallationMedia__: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Beta amd64 (20110413) - Package: unity 3.8.10-0ubuntu2 - PackageArchitecture: amd64 - ProcEnviron: - LANGUAGE=en_AU:en - LANG=en_AU.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash - ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 - ProcVersionSignature_: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 - ProcVersionSignature__: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 - Tags: natty running-unity natty running-unity natty running-unity ubuntu - Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 - UnreportableReason: Please work this issue through technical support channels first. - UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) - UserGroups: adm admin audio cdrom dialout dip fax fuse games lpadmin netdev nopasswdlogin plugdev sambashare users video + It would be really nice if, when you hit Super and start typing the name + of an application you wish to open, Unity behaved more like GNOME-Do. + What I mean is that in Unity's current form, you have to type the proper + name of the application.
