It seemed to me that the problem might be with grub rather than dpkg since the error message that seems to be the important one is "/etc/grub.d/10_linux: 219: : not found". I tried to re-install grub package from Synaptic but this produces the very same message.
So I have now run boot-repair to produce it's info report. I am tempted to run boot-repair with the re-install grub option but afraid that this could make the situation worse. The report is attached. ** Attachment added: "Info report poduced by boot-repair tool" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/873251/+attachment/2546560/+files/boot_repair_info -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/873251 Title: package linux-image-2.6.38-11-generic 2.6.38-11.50 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/873251/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
