I don't believe this is a dupe of bug #787465? I'm not using Unity - in
fact I'm on gnome-session-fallback, and this problem relates directly to
gnome-terminal.
I have a single profile set up in gnome-terminal (Default). This has
"Show menubar by default in new terminals" set to unticked, however
opening a new terminal always shows the menubar. This is the case if I
open a terminal from the nautilus context menu, terminal context menu or
the main applications menu.
In fact, opening a new window, and clicking on the "View" menu shows the
option Show Menubar unselected (Despite the fact the menubar is
present). You have to select the option before you can unselect it and
get rid of the menubar.
