Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: bonobo-activation
Hi, I'm using Ubuntu Feisty and since I upgraded, I'm experiencing the
following problem.
When I log out and log in again, I discovered that the "bonobo-
activation-server" started within my first is not being shut down or
restarted. This fact leads to the problem, that every single
application, which is interacting in some way with it or is using bonobo
components, does not work properly or is not even been started.
For example:
Log-out -> Log in again --> gnome-control-centre --> gnome-theme-manager
Gnome-theme-manager shows me a warning that the gnome-settings-daemon
was not being started and I would experience problems with applying
changes.
Log-out --> switch to console --> px ax | grep bonobo --> kill "Process-
ID" applying to the bonobo-activation-server (started with from user in
the previous session) --> Switch to GDM and log-in --> the same
procedure above--> No warning
2. scenario
Log-out-->log-in --> The panel-applet "Zeroconf Service Discovery" is
not even starting
After Log-out and killing the bonobo-activation-server, the applet
starts normally
There were some other applications, where I have problems, but I can't
remember now.
If you need some more information, just mail me.
I hope this could help you fixing this issue.
