Those sure don't look like the dimensions we want. So this may be a bug with the resolution being handed off from grub, or it may be a bug in the nouveau framebuffer driver itself. Another option you can try is to boot with the option 'plymouth:force- drm', which will cause plymouth to use the drm backend instead of the framebuffer backend.
