Same problem in Ubuntu natty (11.04)

As  Risto said, I think it's a distribution problem, installing gfortran
package solves the issue.

Note for first-timers (like me) using elmer : elmerf90, elmerf90-nosh,
elmerld are not meant to be launched by hand (unless you know what
you're doing I guess), but you should use Elmer* binaries (starting with
an uppercase E), and particularily ElmerGUI; also availble from Ubuntu
menu.
