I had moved the script "dovecot" out of /etc/init.d so that it would not run (but I did not want to uninstall it. It complained about this attempt to upgrade with the dist-upgrade. Further, I could not uninstall it. I had to move that script back in place (luckily I had saved it) before I could do anything to change things. So, now it is resolved for me, but it seems like the installer should be made a bit more robust.
