Workaround if you got this bug after installing xorg-edgers ppa into Ubuntu 11.10: before system starts choose recovery mode in grub, then choose to continue normal boot, login into system, and type into terminal: sudo ppa-purge xorg-edgers After reboot Unity will work normally.
