Public bug reported: When I tried to upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10 through kpackagekit, the I received the error message "Process exited with code 1".
Michael Vogt (mvo) advised me to file a new bug here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/873411 saying that my error stems from a package that is marked as downgrade. Thinking about his comment I realized that I do have such a package. I installed the clementine audio-player from their bleeding-edge repository http://ppa.launchpad.net/me-davidsansome/clementine-dev/ubuntu/ Clementine is also packaged in the official Kubuntu repos. It is an older version than the bleeding edge one but it gets listed as newer, thus the downgrade, I think. I could try to uninstall clementine and do the dist-upgrade after that if you want me to. For now, I'll wait until I get a response here. There is no preferences file in /etc/apt/ but one in /etc/apt/preferences.d/ which I attached here. ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: distribution-upgrade kubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876379 Title: Unable to upgrade to 11.10 using kpackagekit because a package is marked as downgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/876379/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
