Hi ERA:

I hope you are well.

First let me say, that while I have used linux and developed software for
many years, I am not an ubuntu expert.

Second, unfortunately, this was only the beginning of the problems I
encountered using the upgrade option in the update-manager. A few hours
later the process failed miserably. The only choice the upgrade gave me was
to revert back to 11.04 because the system need some cache limit increased.
When I selected the revert option - again the only option the system provide
me - the system spent a few hours processing, then miserably failed on the
revert. I could not even login.

Consequently, my only option was to re-install linux from ubuntu 11.04 cd.
Then I used the upgrade option to upgrade 11.10 which was successful on a
virgin 11.04.

I kindly remind you that everyone is not a linux/ubuntu expert like you - to
me at least, it seems at times that the linux gurus lose sight of that. I
was doing my best to provide the with information, I saw on the screen and
that I could access - which was not much. I provide you most of the text of
the error message. I do not see how I could provide you the info from the
text file when I could not access my system and had to start over with a
clean install.

Thank you for your time.

Have a good day!

Jeff
