** Description changed:

In Unity 2D, once a window "pushes the sidebar off the side of the
screen", you can temporarily un-hide the sidebar again by shoving the
mouse cursor to the right hand side of the screen.

In Unity 3D, this doesn't happen.

If the Unity 3D behaviour is intentional - which I think it is - then
the Unity 2D behaviour is surely a bug.

This may be related to my Bug #876485, "Unity 2D: Initial window
positions often trigger sidebar autohide (unlike Unity 3D)".

I'm trying to keep an open mind. But I can't think of a _good_ reason
for the difference; I much prefer the behaviour of Unity 3D, and past
- experience with 3D makes me leery about essential software that can't
- cope without it.
+ experience with 3D makes me leery about essential software that
+ functions incorrectly in the absence of 3D support.
