Public bug reported:
Since I've updated to Oneiric, system sounds (e.g. login sound) are
broken. Sound in music or video files is still working, it's just the
system sounds. When I boot Ubuntu from the live CD, system sounds will
work.
According to ubuntuusers.de there seem to be more people affected by
this bug.
