I had two scanners working fine with xsane in 11.04. One is an Epson 3590 and the other a Canon Pixma MP240 multipurpose.
scanbuttond was only used for the Epson, since I had just installed the Canon, and had not taken the time to write a script for that device. It broke after the 11.10 upgrade. However, while scanbuttond broke with the upgrade, the Epson still works (sorta) with xsane. The preview window shows "garbage" with Epson, but when I press where the "Preview Button" used to be, it creates and displays a preview correctly. It also scans correctly. While xsane appears completely normal with the Canon, pressing the preview causes segfault at 24 ip 08059c60 sp bfd03c40 error 4 in xsane[8048000+a4000]. xsane will no longer work with the Canon at all!
