Public bug reported:

I recently installed Xubuntu 11.10, but have faced some bugs with the
Applications menu.

- Pointing Devices is necessary for many laptop users because Xubuntu
does not distinguish touchpad settings from mouse settings. I installed
the psmouse patch and Pointing Devices to solve the Alps Bug, but
Pointing Devices has not appeared in the Applications menu or the
Settings Manager. I installed Synaptiks as a temporary fix; it appears
in the Accessories submenu instead of the Settings Manager.

- Evolution was necessary because my previous Ubuntu installation used
Evolution and the official instructions to import Evolution settings
into Thunderbird caused Thunderbird to stop working. Evolution appears
in the Office submenu instead of the Internet submenu.

- KCharSelect was necessary because it contains certain characters which
Character Map does not, and vice versa. I installed KCharSelectk, but it
does not appear in the Applications menu.
