just incase anyone stumbles across this, I am actually not experiencing this bug, instead i am experiencing https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/833397 where there are 2 battery indicators, i didn't notice the duplication at first.
