I confirm the bug, which Laurent is experiencing.
After upgrading from natty to oneiric it seems, that dbus does not exit
cleanly upon shutdown/reboot. As a result /var/run/dbus/pid and
/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket are present upon the next system boot,
which prevents dbus from starting up.
$ apt-cache policy dbus
dbus:
Installed: 1.4.14-1ubuntu1
Candidate: 1.4.14-1ubuntu1
Version table:
*** 1.4.14-1ubuntu1 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
$ apt-cache policy libdbus-1-3
libdbus-1-3:
Installed: 1.4.14-1ubuntu1
Candidate: 1.4.14-1ubuntu1
Version table:
*** 1.4.14-1ubuntu1 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
However, I am not sure if we should open another report, since this one
might be different than the one originally reported here.
