I have two bad news: the first is that the problem remains in Ubuntu 11.10. The second is that neither of the workaround suggested here has effect on Ubuntu 11.10. The option now is to open a terminal window and use the command "alsamixer". The internal microphone must be enabled in text mode. Please developers team, this problem seem to be simple to solve, but the consequences may be big for common users.
