If you got this issue while doin a fresh install just type in a terminal sudo apt-get install ubuntuone-control-panel
then ubuntuone-control-panel-gtk Ubuntuone will open directly on the GUI (not ubuntuone-installer) and let you configure your account. If it's not a fresh install then i advice you to totally remove all the ubuntuone packages then do this. This worked for me under Oneiric (11.10) after a total reinstallation due to a sync bug.
