Public bug reported:

When starting synaptic from either the dash or from the terminal with
'sudo synaptic', the user interface shortly flashes on the screen and
then disappears. In the terminal the following message is printed:

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range'
  what():  vector::_M_range_check

This re-occurs every time I try to start synaptic.
