After upgrade to 11.10 I'm having the same problem on one of my pc's.
The users I want to use to login all have UID from 1000 and up and
UID_MIN is set to 1000.
I don't know how to connect to the system bus with d-feet.
The output of sudo dpkg -l accountsservice is:
ii accountsservice 0.6.14-1git1
query and manipulate user account information
