Hi Michiel, Given that the install completed with no errors, I disagree with Fabio; I doubt the issue is your CD image.
I've seen people with similar problems, e.g. bug 804171 where the problem is lightdm not starting. Could you please attach to the bug the contents of /var/log/lightdm You might find that lightdm.log contains a lot of hints as to the problem.
