Public bug reported:

When I search for Skype in the Ubuntu Software Center, it finds two
Skype (skype:i386) entries right next to each other, with no discernable
difference between them. They behave like one entry; in the attached
screenshot, I only clicked the Install button for the first entry, and
both of them showed identical progress bars; now when I reopen the
Software Center, it still shows both entries and they're both marked as
installed.

It should be noted that Skype still appears to have been successfully
installed, and I can run it with few problems.
