Thanks for your reply.I'm afraid I found the Unity interface utterly impossible to use so have uninstalled Ubuntu and installed Lubuntu on my system in its place.As a result I'm unable to send a screenshot of the issue I experienced.I think, however that the file manager window looked perfectly normal apart from the text size which was inconsistent between folders.Once the text size had been manually changed it remained at that size for that folder.
