I suggest that you try your headset with either Ubuntu 11.04, or Ubuntu11.10, to see if your headset works properly in these newer releases. You can easily test this by downloading the live CD images for both these versions, booting the live CD, and trying to use your headset. If the headset works properly, it may be worthwhile considering an upgrade.
