i don't agree, imo this is a flaw i.e. a bug in how the dash works. perhaps it's a design bug, interaction design that is.
if an item has focus, it should indicate that to the user. the current behaviour is that the respective item does not indicate whether or not it is focused, unless spacially navigated to via mouse or keyboard.
