Just added all the groups that dik (root) has to dik2 privileges and
dik2 can still log in OK. Privs are:

adm, admin, cdrom, dialout, kvm, libvirtd, lp, lpadmin, plugdev,
sambashare, vboxusers.

Even with these privileges, dik2 cannot mount USB drives ('Not
Authorized').

If you deliberately enter wrong password for dik (root user), login
screen correctly says 'invalid password'. On entering correct p/w, login
screen just loops.

Title:
  Can't login as administrator, only as Guest. Once correct password is
  typed using Administrator as user, screen goes black and then returns
  to login.  As Guest I cannot access external drives, etc.  Also cannot
  shutdown.
