Laptop has began resuming normally. Regarding Unity, I understand the changes and the move to unity as well as many of the gnome3 modifications will make the interface better for many. The modifications look good for those who have small screens where large icons and automatic hiding is very functional. However, I stay away from small screens. My laptop is 17" and I run duel monitors on my desktops. I do not use netbooks as the keyboards are uncomfortably small. Tablets are just plain inconvenient to use as one had is always required to hold the thing. I moved to ubuntu to get away from the direction Windows was taking and while my wife and daughter like Apple stuff I dislike it more than windows. Thanks to ubuntu I have found xfce and now use xubuntu. Good luck with unity but its not for me.
