On feisty, AMD64, the info files for emacs itself are not present!

this means that emacs is no longer self documented!

Normally the command:
C-h i
gives the info menu, then you look for an Emacs entry, and when you find it,
zap: file not found.

this is a catastrophe for developers, but probably easily fixed. It looks to me
like the file:
/usr/share/info/dir

is messsed up. I see that there are 3 dir files in /usr/share/info
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 10460 2007-04-26 23:13 dir
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 12962 2006-11-11 17:02 dir.latest
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 10512 2007-04-26 23:13 dir.old

Anyway, this is a BIG problem for we developers....
Please help!
