For me , the option "-keybd ephyr,,xkbmodel=evdev" was not enough. Try this :
1) see what are full options using command "setxkbmap -query" $ setxkbmap -query rules: evdev model: evdev layout: us 2) using this option for Xephyr: -keybd ephyr,,,xkbmodel=evdev,xkblayout=us,xkbrules=evdev and all is working now. NOTE : i am not using ssh connection, but starting a nested KDE session as another local user.
