Please note that the printer is currently working fine under Ubuntu &
kubuntu 11.04. There is no built in USB mass storage device on the
Lexmark S301 the windows drivers were provided on a CD.

I have tried the apparmor suggestion :

aa-complain /usr/sbin/cupsd

This changes the "dmesg" output to the following:
