@Michael: I think the first issue you describe is simply the lack of
global menu integration for LibreOffice. There is a package "lo-menubar"
in the archives, which will install a preliminary LO-addon which will
integrate the menu into the global menu. But it seems not to be ready
for default inclusion.

The second issue is what this bug report is really about. It makes some
LO windows unaccessible, except for Super+W scale mode. This also
affects the usability of the global menu integration: I once tried out
lo-menubar, and it worked quite well. But if Unity "looses" a LO window,
its menu will also not appear in the global menu, and thus there is no
way even to close the document. If the menu is displayed in the window
(no global menu integration), it will at least stay accessible, even
when Unity does not handle it.
