I have the same problem. When I open ~/.forward, it tries to load
`xslide'. In /etc/emacs/site-start.d/50xslide.el, it should read more
like:
(add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.fo\\'" . xsl-mode))
(add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.xsl\\'" . xsl-mode))
