I sent machine data while running kernel 2.6.38 but kernel I ran when
got problems was 3.0.0.12-20.
Here is an easy way to reproduce the bug, no need for the Nonin device:
Pair two machines. In one of them, run
l2test -E -X ertm -r -P 4097
At a "healthy" machine, run
l2test -E -X ertm -s -P 4097 xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
This reproduces exactly the kind of device Nonin oximeter employs (ERTM
with encryption).
If server has kernel 2.6.38, it works always. If kernel is 3.0.0,
sometimes it connect, sometimes won't, and eventually it causes a kernel
panic (cancel and retry connection at client side if it works the first
time. It takes between one and three cycles there to freeze the
machine.)
